Love and Peace was created in 1914 in the Russian Federation. It is a futurist style of art that is oil painted onto a canvas. This painting shows a mother holding her child tightly, while a white bird also known as a dove is perched on her shoulder. Like many of Burliuk’s paintings this is very colorful, using many shades of yellow and green. During the time when it was painted Germany had just declared war on Russia, and started World War I.
Artist: David Burliuk was born in July on the 21st of 1882 in the small settlement of Semyrotivka. He had a brother, Volodymyr who also became an artist. David studied at Kazan Art School, Odessa Art School, and the Royal Academy starting in 1889 until 1904. In the year 1911 he started studying at the Moscow School of painting, sculpting, and architecture, however in the year 1913 David was expelled. By 1922 he moved to the United States. In the U.S David co-founded the Association of Revolutionary Masters of Ukraine. On January 15, 1967 he died in Long Island, New York where his studio still remains to this day.
