Title of painting: Child with a Dove
Name of artist: Pablo Picasso
Year produced: 1901
Country of origin: Spain
Context: This was one of Pablo Picassos earliest work he was twenty-one or even younger. He painted it in Paris while he was staying with some friends. In this painting we see a new thoughtfulness, with qualities that were dominant in his work for years to come. This painting was made in 1901 it was on display for many years in England before its sale. The painting was sold for 50 million euros to Christie's an auction house.
Artist: Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881. He became on of the greatest and most influential artist of the 20th century. When he was 7 he got special training from his father about how to paint. In 1893 he was accepted into the school of Fine and Applied Arts. At the age of 13 he produced his first oil painting. In 1895 he began to sell his work on a small scale. At the age of 16 Picasso finally went on his own but disliked it alot.
Analysis: This painting by Pablo Picasso was one of his best and probably his most popular. We know it was good because it was on display in England for many years. Not many people would be able to hold a dove without it moving around. But here we see a child holding a dove without any worry and the dove is calm. There are alot of paintings that bring peace in many ways but this one is different. Its a child holding a dove and the dove isnt bothered. This painting can mean many things to other people.
Theme: This painting means peace to us because the picture is so calm and not any action in it. To other people it could mean something else but to my group that's what it means to us. A child holding a dove is just an amazing sight and knowing that the dove is fine with the child holding it. Many people can see this painting it many different ways. Paintings are made to mean something and this one means peace to us in thousands of ways.

Title of painting: Child with Dove
Name of artist: Pablo Picasso
Year produced: 1901
Country of origin: France
Context: Child with Dove was painted a little before Picasso's blue period. The blue period was a very somber time in Picasso's art which consisted of many blue-green tones. It is one of his earliest works of art. It had been inspired by Toulouse-Lautrec who happened to be one of his greatest mentors. This style of art is post-impressionism which were highly symbolic and consisted of personal meanings. Child with Dove was painted on a canvas and the technique used was oil painting.
Artist: Pablo Picasso was born on October 25,1881 in Malaga, Spain. He died in Mougin, France on April 8,1973. Pablo Picasso was best known as a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright. He spent most of his life living in France. Pablo Picasso is considered to be one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Pablo Picasso's full name is Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso, but he decided to be known just as, Picasso, which happens to be his mother's last name. Picasso went through many phases and periods throughout his entire painting career. These included post impressionism, surrealism, cubism, the rose period, African period, and the blue period. He pioneered the cubism movement to which he is most famous for and his artistic genius is irreplaceable.
Analysis: In the painting a small, fair skinned child is depicted standing outside. She has a ginger pixie cut which makes her slightly androgynous. Her attire consists of a white gown tied at the waist with what looks like a big blue sash. The girl stands holding a white dove in both hands in the mid ground. In the foreground lies a brightly colored ball that almost resembles a color wheel. The little girl seems as though she's about to let the bird free and has a minor grin on her face. In the background you can see painted an abstracted blue sky and green grass.
Theme: Although, Child with Dove was painted around the same time as Picasso's blue period, the painting depicts a very lighthearted meaning. The basis of the painting expresses a young girl holding onto her innocence as life's wicked truth gradually takes it away. The deeper meaning in this painting is that although life gets tougher, our youth was the time in which we were the most happy and tranquil. Child with Dove symbolizes peace, because our childhood is the time in which we were all the most peaceful and where we hadn't had a care in the world. A time where everything was content. If people would put themselves in the mindset of when we were children, maybe the world would be a very different place.
