The viewing of this painting inspired people to write about their own experience in Syria. Seeing the bombs and hearts shows how nations want to destroy love instead of seeking prosperity in peace. Analysis The picture shows bombs being dropped over a city and the gas that arises from the explosion is red and creates a heart shape. The bombs are from a war that is going on and the smoke hearts symbolize the love of the city. The message of the painting is that even in times of war peace and loving is still possible. It is not the hated that is given but the love shown amongst the people during difficult times
Theme: Peace is what you get at the end of a problem. It is probably the feeling Syria will feel at the end of the war. In Wissam Al Jazairy’s painting “City of Love in Time of War” the bombs show Syria’s problems coming down on buildings which are probably people’s homes or place of work or in shorter terms its people’s lives those bombs are raining on. And after the damage has been done there is still people continuing their lives even though they have gone through the horrible dreading feeling that one of those bombs could have hit them, a friend, or family member. And after all that they still love, they still live through their days at peace and are still civilised even though a war is happening around them.
